The delivery time from HK to the UK was extremely fast, i ordered it on the Thursday night, and it was at my door the following Monday morning. I was also worried about custom and/or import taxes, but none of these happened, so i was a very happy bunny. The unit's box was well packaged and secured, and everything i needed for the install was in the box. The build quality of the unit is excellent considering the price of it, the buttons are nice and responsive, the spinney dials are positive and don't wobble about everywhere. There is a multitude of connections on the rear for outputting to subs, or video output for rear passenger AV screens, an iPod connector fly lead, a full size female USB fly lead for if you want to run an extension cable to your glove box to connect a memory stick for example. There's also a video input for a reversing camera if needed which works automatically when Reverse gear is engaged.
Eonon are now phasing out the old processors used in the D5119, in favour for these new ARM 11 processors, and I can see why. Screen transitions joyfully bounce from one to the other with nice animations and the responsiveness is quick. The sound quality is excellent, and i would go as far as saying it tops the original Sony unit that was installed, not by much, but by enough to notice. Bluetooth connections for phone and music streaming work well, but do seem a little quiet compared with the FM Radio volume, or CD volume. The steering controls all work fine, although the RWD/FWD buttons were the wrong way round. Converse did show 'Radio, CD Player and AUX', and did seem to interact to a degree with the unit, but I wouldn't say it was flawless. Not tested a movie yet but the CD player works great.
The unit i had when installed, refused to start up. So i retrieved my trusty multimeter and started testing, and everything seemed fine. So i contacted Eonon via there FB page, and within the hour, they had responded with a test to try out on the unit, which was to essentially rig a +12Vdc supply to the permanent live, and the ACC (switch live controlled by the ignition switch) wires, which i did and boom, it lit up!
So overall, an excellent unit for the price, well built, nice UI, fast and responsive but is let down by a few minor oversights. I will admit I have been disappointed at the can bus module failing, and that sort of took the shine off it for me in the beginning, but I am slowly learning to love it again. I'm pretty sure that there is no other unit out there at this price and quality which makes it a truly excellent piece of kit.
